My Best and Worst Future Afghan Governments

If our existing constitution survives, the next Afghan Government has to be sown in less than two years. Speculations are high as to who will run for president and how future governments would look like.

Most NATO forces will be gone by 2014 leaving us at the mercy of reinvigorated warlords, antagonized Pakistan and Iran and one of the most corrupt political systems on earth.

Our political, security and development prospects appear bleak and frightening.

However, I think we could be better off if we have a government like this:

·         President – to be elected!
Ramazan Bashardost, Chief Justice
Ashraf Ghani, Finance Minister
Ehsanullah Bayat, Director Afghan Red Crescent Society
Saad Mohsini, Commerce Minister
Hekmat Karzai, Foreign Minister
Nader Nadery, Justice Minister
Farhad Ghafour, Social Welfare & Human Development Minister
Fawzia Kofi, Borders Minister
Soraya Dalil, Public Health Minister
Shukria Barakzai, Transportation Minister
Najib Azizi, Mining Minister
Waheed Omar,  Information & Culture Minister
Khaled Husseini, Minister of Education
Fazal Ahmad Manawi, Minister of Religious Freedoms
Hanif Atmar, Minister of Rural Development
Latif Rahmanyar (Kabul University Law Lecturer), Minister of Higher Education
Malalai Joya, Spokeswoman
Farhad Peikar, Director GMIC
Noor Akbary (MP from Daikundi), Afghan Envoy to the UN
Nazifullah Salarzai, Deputy Afghan Envoy to the UN
Majid Qarar (Agriculture Ministry’s spokesman), Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan
Najibullah Kabuli (former MP), Afghan Ambassador to Iran
Janan Mosazai (after he revokes his Canadian passport), Afghan Ambassador to USA
Orzala Ashraf, Director National Environmental Protection Agency
Wazhma Frough, Chairwoman Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission
Kabul Mayor & Governor (to-be elected)
Governors (to-be elected)

We could, meanwhile, end up worse off if we would have a government like this:

·         Gen. Dostum, President
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Vice-President
Hamid Karzai, Supreme Advisor to the Presidency
Mohammad Mohaqiq, interior minister
Abdurab Rasoul Sayaf, Chief Justice
Qasim Fahim, Defense Minister
Haji Zahir, Finance Minister
Amrullah Saleh, NDS Director
Abdullah Abdullah, Foreign Minister
Younus Qanooni, National Security Advisor
Ismael Khan, Planning Minister
Atta Mohammad Noor, Rural Development Minister
Latif Pedram, Borders Minister
Karim Khalili, Transportation Minister
Seddiq Chakari, Hajj & Religious Affairs Minister
Seema Samar, Women’s Affairs Minister
Sayed Hussein Anwari, Agriculture Minister
Gul Agha Sherzai, Commerce Minister
Bismillah Mohammadi, Commerce Minister
Fazal Karim Aymaq, Kabul Mayor
Haji Din Mohammad, Kabul Governor
Anwar Haq Ahadi, Health Minister
Fazal Aqa Sancharaki, Spokesman

A third scenario, perhaps worst, would be the restoration of the Taliban Emirate. How a next Taliban regime would like I can bet as Taliban are notorious in rejecting everything you write about them.

I am sorry I did not include very good names in both of the above non-Taliban governments. You can, however, nominate people on Facebook, Twitter and in the forum.

Salaams!
